2003, June 22
New release 1.0.18 of the LEOX Cross Development Kit.

Please see the ChangeLog file for modifications.

2003, May 25
New release of our uClinux/Sparc port synchronized with the latest uClinux's official distribution (20030522).

The uClinux/Sparc kernel is booting and a shell is running (see the boot sequence), but from now there is still few C library functionalities and only the shell ported to the Sparc MMUless architecture.

2002, June 2
New release of our uClinux/Sparc port.

Good News: Now our uClinux port onto LEON is integrated into the uClinux's official distribution, by courtesy of Greg Ungerer.
This distribution is a lot easier to use, since you pretty much get everything you need in one package. This code package also includes the latest uClinux kernel snapshots from the CVS archive at cvs.uclinux.org.
From our uClinux port, the kernel code base supports generic Sparc MMUless architecture and includes support for building LEON over TSIM remote Sparc simulator target.

New release 1.2 of the DRAGONFLY 1 micro core.

Please see the ChangeLog file for modifications.

2001, September 24
First release of the DRAGONFLY 1 micro core.

The DRAGONFLY micro core has been designed as a small (less than 4K gates), fast and programmable core, to be used in an ASIC or a FPGA, in areas such as serial communication management (UART, Smart cards controllers, LDC drivers, I²C controllers, SPI controllers), on-chip test and debug of complex blocks, intelligent DMA, FLASH controllers, audio-rate SDRAM controllers, and so on.

The philosophy behind the core is that, real-time and complex arithmetic tasks are handled inside adapted peripherals (serial interfaces, FIFOs, Arithmetic operators, Timers, etc.), while the core itself is responsible for peripheral configuration, data motion and interpretation, complex state machine emulation, complex decisions calculations.

Writing software for the DRAGONFLY is done using a simple, easy to use and easy to learn assembly language. Available software tools are:
  • a complete macro assembler (that runs on Linux, Solaris and Windows).
  • an Emacs mode for easy assembly code edition.
  • a tcl/Tk based debugger to be used (only) with the Modelsim VHDL simulator.

2001, August 22
First alpha version (0821) of uClinux/Sparc port.

We have updated the preliminary port (done by Donald Jeff Dionne) of the uClinux kernel version 2.0.39 for the LEON core to Greg Ungerer's general uClinux distribution. This distribution is a lot easier to use, since you pretty much get everything you need in one package. This code package also includes the latest uClinux kernel snapshots from the CVS archive at cvs.uclinux.org.
When patched with our uClinux port, the kernel code base supports generic Sparc MMUless architecture and includes support for building LEON over TSIM remote Sparc simulator target.

The uClinux/Sparc kernel is running (see the boot sequence), but from now there is still no libraries and no userland applications ported to the Sparc MMUless architecture. This port provides a test_romdisk directory under the uClinux kernel code base. It includes a simple user-space application, a ROM disk and the howto text file to build everything. This simple init process outputs an 'A' on the UART1 of the LEON core.
